SOUPER Familiy and Community Night was a Huge Success

November 11, 2013

The SOUPER Family and Community Night was an OUTSTANDING SUCCESS.  We served over 275 people on November 7 and raised over $2000 from the patrons and parents.  The NEA contributed an additional $1200 from the jeans and tennis shoes fund and the Modern Woodmen match of $1000 will bring our total over $4000.  This is a wonderful start to providing a bright new playground for our community and school.

There were several activities to see and do.  Several made pine cone turkeys in the Kindergarten room.  A person could listen to 1st graders read on the iPads and see their habitats they made.  The second grade decorated the hallways with scarecrows.  Displays of the Oregon Trail were made by the 3rd and 4th grade and the 5th grade made State posters.  To increase your Math knowledge the 8th grade provided math activities.  There was also a table to have your blood sugar checked, heart rate and blood pressure taken, and a measurement of your lung capacity.

The scarecrow contest was also a success.  There were even a couple of live scarecrows.  The Trading Post won the contest with their “Mooner” scrarecrow.  Make sure to check out the slide show for pictures of all the scarecrows.

Besides the soup being delicious, the band also treated us with a few musical selections.  To end the night, the drama club gave us a sneak peek of their upcoming performance on November 22, entitled “The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza” by Don Zolidis.  You won’t want to miss it.
