Niobrara-Verdigre vs. Creighton Football Game

September 09, 2014

On August 29, the Niobrara-Verdigre Cougars took on the Creighton Bulldogs for the first game of the season. The game took place at the Sage Brothers Memorial Field in Niobrara, Nebraska. The Cougars got off to a rough start with 2 fumbles in the first quarter. After the beginning, butterflies were out, the boys got themselves into a game with the score at the end of the 1st quarter being 14-8, in the Bulldogs favor. As the game went on, N-V continued to turn the ball over. At the end of the first half the score was 34-8, Creighton. After a long lightning delay, the Cougars finally came back to take the field and continued to struggle moving the ball on offense and failed to make stops on defense. The Creighton Bulldogs took advantage to the lack in production by the Cougars and took the dominant victory 72-8. The boys are working hard in practice after the tough loss and plan to improve for their next opponent, the Bloomfield Bees. Both teams are suffering from several injuries, however, the players are stepping up and are ready to go. The Niobrara-Verdigre Cougars take on the Bloomfield Bees Thursday, September 4th at 7 P.M. in Bloomfield. Hope to see you there, Go Cougars!
