FBLA Attend State Leadership Conference

April 21, 2017

By Bryce Stark

On Thursday April 6th, Stran, Erika, Kendra, Tala, Courtney, Mrs.Heiser, Mrs. Motacek, and I traveled to Omaha, Nebraska for the 2017 Spring Leadership conference. We stayed in the Regency Lodge which was about five miles away from the conference site. We originally were going to be staying at a hotel that was much closer to the conference, but the hotel’s pipes busted and we were then relocated to The Regency. The conference started with an opening ceremony that included a Motivational Speaker named Hoan Do. Hoan Do was on American Ninja warrior and talked about his life and struggles. He also taught us how to overcome negative thoughts. After the ceremony, some of us got ready for tests, while the others hung out in their hotel rooms waiting for their turn to test. Agribusiness, economics, and Cyber Security are a few examples of the type of tests we took. The 2nd day, all of us were busy with tests. If we were not taking tests, we listened to speakers. Camden, Stran, and I listened to two representatives from Men’s Warehouse. These two guys taught us how to dress properly for an interview. At the end of the 2nd day, we went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory as a chapter. After the family meal, Mrs. Motacek, Courtney, Kendra, Camden and I headed back home that Friday night because we had Prom the next day and Camden had a Golf meet. We arrived home at about 9:00 p.m. The ones that stayed in Omaha attended the dance and had a grand old time. The next morning, the remaining members attended the award ceremony. After the award ceremony, they began their journey home. All in all, it was a very enjoyable time and experience. I think we all are looking forward to next year’s conference.
