Half-way There Celebration

January 30, 2018

Niobrara Middle and High School students returned from Winter Break to a surprise " Half Way There" celebration. What began like any other school day was interrupted by an intercom announcement that started with Bon Jovi"s 1986 hit " Living on a Prayer" the portion of the song bradcasted was fittingly:

    Woah, we're half way there
    Woah, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand, we'll make it I swear
    Woah, livin' on a prayer...

Students and staff then met in the gym where staff welcomed them back, congratulated them on their successes so far this year and encouraged them to stay focused in the second half of the year. Students were given a sheet of paper containing the name of half of a famous duo and then directed to find their other half ( Bert and Ernie and Homer and Marge were sone examples). Once the students were paired up they were off on a scavenger around the Middle and High school portion of the building.

When the scavenger hunt was complete students were treated to half cupcakes, half bags of popcorn and juice in the commons area. The middle school winners of the scavenger hut were : Chrissenna and Karli. The high school winners of the scavenger hunt were: Genesis and Erminio, and the team of Camden and Jolee. These students received a button that allowed them to skip to the front of the lunch line for the remainder of the school week and the next week as well.

Both middle school and high school students did a mid-year locker clean out to start the year fresh and organized. Middle school students returned to class and high school students headed to the old gym for the reward movie they earned with their fall MAPs testing performance. Many students provided positive feedback regarding this and energetic start to the new year.
