Hello!  I am the high school math teacher at Niobrara Public Schools.  I also am a co-sponsor of the Student Council and also Booster Club Sponsor.  

I live on a cattle ranch in rural Niobrara with my husband and son, Adam.  My older son, James, and his wife, Jenna, live in South Sioux City where James teaches Middle School Social Studies and Jenna is a nurse.  One of our favorite activities to do together is watch Jeopardy! We also love college football and have a friendly Hawkeye/Husker rivalry in the family.  Adam is a senior this year and plays football, basketball, and runs track. My husband works at the bank in Lynch along with working on the ranch.

I love teaching!  I wanted to be a teacher as a little girl and followed my dream to make it happen!  After graduating from the University of Iowa with an elementary education degree I began teaching elementary school in Newcastle, Ne., then taught in Yankton, SD, then in Spencer, Ne.  I opened a daycare and preschool when we started our family. During that time I found myself taking classes from Chadron State College and Wayne State College and earned a secondary math endorsement and then taught 7-12th grade math in Lynch, Ne. for 14 years.  I began teaching in Niobrara in 2014.

I believe that every student can learn mathematics!  I also believe that I can learn something from every one of my students!  There is a sign in my classroom that says, “I am not the smartest person in the room.” ~Mrs. DeKay
