GO GREEN Family Night

The “Go Green” family night activity at Niobrara Public School on Thursday, March 17, attracted nearly 200 participants which included parents, family members, students and grandparents.

Fitness stations included Aerobics and Marge Classen, Zumba with Jodi Wiese, Yoga with Amy Thomas, Circuit/Weights with Angie Barta and a Martial Arts demonstration with Heather Barron.

Emily Elsbury of Bright Horizons, O’Neill, gave a presentation on “Teen Dating Violence”.  Sharla Hanzlik and her Biology II students conducted Body Mass Index testing.  Throughout the evening, Mrs. Teri Schacht and her Family Consumer Science students helped with the food preparations for the evening. 

Most of the food was the color “green”. This included Turkey wraps with spinach and red pepper sauce, green veggies and green fruit.  The beverage served was water infused with lime and cucumbers. 

School nurse, Chelsey Chohan organized a one mile walk for healthy living.

Niobrara Public School donated six $25 Visa Cards for the drawing that were held.  The National Guard donated water bottles, Moody Motor Co. donated four “Fitbits”, the Bank of Hartington donated five $10 gift certificates, two sweatshirts and water bottles.  Amy Thomas, yoga instructor donated a variety of bags and water bottles.
