CHAMPIONS of the 2022 Orchard Powerlifting Meet…

The 2022 Orchard AAU Powerlifting Meet was held this past Saturday, April 9th with an impressive line-up of 118 registered lifters from around Nebraska and Iowa representing 14 different teams. Twenty-six Niobrara-Verdigre powerlifters competed in this year’s AAU Championships. These 26 lifters had an outstanding day breaking ten total State & American records and five Niobrara-Verdigre school records. Not to mention each lifter setting numerous personal bests. The entire field of competition saw thirteen different lifters set a total of 29 State records and 6 American records on Saturday. Among that group was our very own Scotty Klinetobe, Wyatt Shabram, Anna Rudloff, Gabrielle Pavlik, and Olivia Holz. Scotty set the State record for male 114 lb. teen class deadlift 303 lbs. Wyatt set the male equipped 123 lb. teen bench only State record. Anna set the deadlift state record for her weight class (303 lbs). Gabrielle set the state record for her weight class bench only (132.25 lbs), deadlift (314 lbs), and push-pull total (446.25 lbs). Olivia set the AAU state record in her weight class for bench press (104.5), deadlift (264.5) and push-pull total (369.25 lbs). Niobrara-Verdigre also had the Elsie Magwire memorial female outstanding lifter of the meet based on strength index. Chelsey Rohrer won this award with an index of 4.20 (a new school record). Speaking of school records, Gabrielle broke the following records… squat 253.5 lbs, deadlift 314 lbs, and total 709 lbs. Isaac Pavlik set the school record for strength gain of 96 lbs. After the busy day of lifting was finished, the Niobrara-Verdigre team earned the 2022 Nebraska AAU championship trophies in the Co-ed and Boys team divisions!
The top 5 Co-ed teams… 1st place Niobrara-Verdigre (97 points); 2nd Summerland (85); 3rd Boyd County (61); 4th Fullerton (45); 5th Silver Lake (29).
The top 6 Boys teams… 1st place Niobrara-Verdigre (91 pts); 2nd place DC West (51); 3rd place Grand Island (34); 4th place David City Aquinas (20); 5th place Ainsworth (17); 6th place Amherst (6).
Niobrara-Verdigre had an amazing 13 individual AAU champions: Alex Motacek 88 lb (raw) class, Scotty Klinetobe 114 lb (raw) class, Wyatt Shabram 123 lb (equipped) class, Jacob Motacek 148 lb youth (raw) class, Arlan Lammers 165 lb youth (raw) class, Reid Teadtke 181 lb youth (raw) class, Beau Hrbek 275 lb (raw) class, Jeff Shabram 242 lb (raw) masters class, Emmarie Pavlik 132 lb youth (raw) class, Chelsey Rohrer 148 lb (raw) class, Anna Rudloff 181 lb (raw) class, Gabrielle Pavlik 198 lb (raw) class, and Olivia Holz 198+ lb (raw) class. Six lifters won the silver medal in their weight class... Daniel Pavelka 165 lb (raw) class, Jordon Ingebo 181 lb (raw) class, Gunnar Shabram 220 lb (raw) class, Gavin Rardon 275+ lb (raw) class, Heidi Hollmann 132 lb (raw) class, and Taylor Pavlik 198 lb (raw) class. Two lifters won the bronze medal in their weight class… Isaac Pavlik 242 lb (raw) class and Taylor Teadtke 148 lb (raw) class. Other Cougar medalists were… Cody Wickersham 4th place 148 lb class, Ethan Uhlir 5th place 148 lb class, Coy Wickersham 8th place 148 lb class, Cash Wickersham 8th place 165 lb class, and Jase Kotrous 9th place 148 lb class. It was an impressive display of power Saturday as many of the Cougar lifters increased totals and bumped up to stronger lifting clubs!
Saturday’s meet was the last of the 2021-22 school year. Next season then kicks off with the Lexington Powerlifting Meet in mid-December. Nice job and keep up the good work kids! It is fun to watch you grow in both mind and body. Saturday was an overall amazing display of power for many of the competitors. The heaviest total this year was lifted by Mark Schellen of Waterloo, NE with 1488 pounds. And this man is 60 years old! Ticket table Rita Shabram and Sally Cronk. Video was run by Beckett Wessendorf. The very popular concession stand was provided by Stephanie Cleveland and her Orchard community club work crew. All sponsored by Dusty’s. Reiman Coffee Company was present with coffee and smoothies again! Meals for meet workers were provided by Florence Zeigenbein, Karen Allemang, and Jack Allemang with Sugarz Café. It takes individuals from multiple communities to pull off this big of an event, and it was another wonderful highlight of a fun powerlifting season! Go Cougars!
