In addition to being the new high school English teacher here at NPS, I am also a new neighbor. I moved to Niobrara this past June, from Eagle Butte, SD. I originally became a Midwesterner back in 2006 when my family moved to Yankton. My son Jake, graduated from Yankton High School in 2017 and went directly from his graduation ceremony to Sioux Falls and into the Marines. He re-upped last May, and Sgt. Jake Rodriguez is now stationed in Bahrain, in the Middle East. Teaching is a second career for me. I graduated from Mount Marty College in 2011, with a B.A. in Secondary Education and Literature. I also have an M.A. in Differentiated Instruction, 25 credit hours in an M.A. in Literature, and am now writing my thesis for an EdD in Educational Leadership. My focus is always to help students explore their gifts and talents and make learning fun and creative.
