Niobrara-Verdigre Powerlifters compete at All-Class State Meet

Five lifters from the Niobrara-Verdigre powerlifting team qualified for the All-Class State Meet at Omaha Creighton Prep this past Saturday, January 28^th.  Those lifters were… Alex Motacek, Gavin Rardon, Anna Rudloff, Gabrielle Pavlik, and Raquel Morales-Montalvo.  Each lifter finished in the top 10 of their respective weight class, and each of the three girls came home with hardware!

This was a meet with Nebraska lifters qualifying from mostly Class A schools and just a few B, C & D schools.  28 Schools were represented Saturday.  They were:  Creighton Prep, Bellevue East, Papillion-LaVista, Omaha North, Omaha Central, Omaha Benson, Millard North, Omaha Skutt, Omaha Roncalli, Elkhorn Mt. Michael, Lincoln High, Lincoln East, Fremont, Columbus, Grand Island, Kearney, Lexington, North Platte, Hershey, Seward, Crete, Adams Central, Brownel-Talbot, Conestoga, Yutan, Cross County, Perkins County, and Niobrara-Verdigre.  This meet had the best-of-the-best lifters from across the state!

Gabrielle Pavlik earned the gold medal for the girls 198 lb weight class.  And in the process she set all-class meet records in the bench press (155 lbs), deadlift (405 lbs), and total (860 lbs).  She also broke her own school records in the squat (300 lbs), total, and strength index (4.54).  Anna Rudloff earned the silver medal in the 181 lb weight class.  Raquel Morales-Montalvo earned the 5^th place medal in the 198+ lb weight class.  Alex Motacek finished in 7^th place in the boys 114 lb weight class, and Gavin Rardon finished 8^th in the boys 275+ lb weight class.  What an awesome performance Saturday and congratulations to all of our lifters!

The entire Niobrara-Verdigre powerlifting team would like to invite everyone to Verdigre High School on Saturday, February 25^th for the 2^nd annual Verdigre Powerlifting Meet.  This is a meet for both jr. high AND high school lifters.  We are super excited to lift in front of the home crowd and hopefully put on a show!  Lifting starts at 10:00 am that morning.  GO COUGARS!
