JV Football vs. Boyd County Monday, September 11.

The Niobrara-Verdigre Cougar JV football team hosted the Boyd County Spartans Monday night, September 11^th in Verdigre.  The young Cougars kicked off homecoming week in fine fashion winning the game by a score of 34-12. 

The offense was very efficient the entire game working the power run game and then mixing in some play-action passes.  The first score came on a 25 yard TD pass from Kash Nielsen to Layten Moody (PAT failed).  The next N-V score was an 8 yard TD pass from Kash Nielsen to Wade Pritchett (Nielsen PAT pass to Danny Pease).  The defense dominated most of the first half until Boyd County snuck in a solid drive and then punched a TD in right at the end of the first half (PAT failed).  Halftime score… N-V 14 Boyd County 6.

Aside from allowing Boyd County to march the opening drive of the 2^nd half down the field capping it off with a TD run by the QB… the young Cougars would bow their neck and allow no more TD’s.  Meanwhile N-V would score 3 unanswered TD’s…  Arlan Lammers 25 TD run (PAT failed); Jacob Motacek 3 TD run (Kash Nielsen PAT pass to Danny Pease); and Kash Nielsen 15 TD run (PAT failed).  The game ended N-V 34 Boyd County 12.

The Cougars JV football team is at Summerland this Monday, Sept. 18 to take on the Bobcats with a 6:30 pm kick-off.  GO COUGARS!!
