Homecoming Football vs. Ainsworth September 15
The Niobrara-Verdigre Cougar football team played the #1 ranked Ainsworth Bulldogs this past Friday, Sept. 15th in Verdigre for Homecoming 2023. The top ranked Bulldogs definitely looked the part and came away with a 54-0 win in front of a packed crowd. The loss marks the beginning of district play and moves the Cougars to 3-1 on the season.
The offense struggled to get a rushing game going and had difficulty completing passes downfield. This is not a recipe for offensive success. Meanwhile, the Cougar defense played inspired football making the very potent Ainsworth Bulldog offensive attack work for everything they could get and did force four Bulldog turnovers. But in the end, Ainsworth just has too much fire power! Running clock rules were in effect in the 2nd half which kept the game moving along.
Final score… N-V 0 Ainsworth 54.
The Niobrara-Verdigre Cougar football team is in action this Friday, Sept. 22nd at 4:00 pm in O’Neill. The Cougars will take on the St. Mary’s Cardinals. GO COUGARS!
