Varsity Football vs. St. Mary's

The Niobrara-Verdigre Cougar football team traveled to O’Neill to play the St. Mary’s Cardinals last Friday afternoon, Sept. 22nd and found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard 14-62.
The offense struggled to get any productivity out of any drive all afternoon. Meanwhile the Cougar defense had difficulty defending the St. Mary’s passing attack. Arlan Lammers did have a 74 kick-off return for TD in the 2nd quarter (PAT failed). Then, in the 4th quarter, the young Cougars put a score on the board with a 7 yard TD run by Kash Nielsen (Jacob Motacek PAT run).
The game ended with a final score of… N-V 14 St. Mary’s 62.
This is now two straight weeks for the Cougars to experience extreme hardship vs. their opponents. We will look to right the ship this week when we travel to Spencer to battle the Boyd County Spartans. The game is this Friday, Sept. 29th at 7:00 pm. GO COUGARS!
