Niobrara-Verdigre Powerlifters compete at Lincoln’s Capital City Clash

Eighteen lifters from the Niobrara-Verdigre powerlifting team made the cold trip to Parkview Christian High School in Lincoln Saturday, January 20th to compete in the Capital City Clash which is a sanctioned Powerlifting America Meet.  The lifters competed very well with everyone bringing home individual hardware.  This meet was an open meet with no team contests or awards… just individual medals.

Lifters representing Ottawa University in Kansas; Midland University; Watertown, SD; Norfolk HS; Lincoln Club; Minnesota USAPL; Florida USAPL; Denver, CO; and Louisana Raw were among those competing Saturday in addition to our N-V Cougars.

Fourteen gold medals were earned by N-V lifters…  Alex Motacek 59 kg class, Wyatt Shabram 66 kg class, Beckett Wessendorf 74 kg class, Lorenzo Denny 120+ kg class, Christine Mechaley 43 kg class, Sydney Kumm 47 kg class, Melody Bonham 52 kg class, Billie Pritchett 57 kg class, Heidi Hollmann 69 kg class, Emmarie Pavlik 76 kg class (bench only), Miranda Stohlmann 76 kg, Taylor Pavlik 84 kg class, RaeLynne Nelson 84+ kg class (equipped), and Raquel Morales-Montalvo 84+ kg class (raw).  Three lifters earned silver medals… Arlan Lammers 83 kg class, Isaac Pavlik 105 kg class, and Aliyah Yunker 84 kg class.  Izaak Vakoc earned bronze in the 53 kg class.  Congratulations to all of our lifters!

Our next meet is a dual competition vs. North Platte High School in North Platte on Saturday, Feb. 3 starting at 2:00 pm.  Then, the entire Niobrara-Verdigre powerlifting team would like to invite everyone to Verdigre High School on Saturday, February 24th for the 3rd annual Verdigre Powerlifting Meet.  This is a meet for both jr. high AND high school lifters.  We are super excited to lift in front of the home crowd and hopefully put on a show!  It will be a lineup of very tough competition with schools attending from around the state.  Lifting starts at 9:00 am that morning.  GO COUGARS!
