NIOBRARA PUBLIC SCHOOL

MINUTES OF REGULAR BOARD MEETING

September 11, 2023

Chairman Moody opened the Budget Hearing at 5:45 p.m. Chairman Moody closed the Budget Hearing at 5:55 p.m. and opened the Tax Request Hearing at 5:55 p.m. and closed the Tax Request Hearing at 6:00 p.m. Chairman Moody called the regular meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. It was noted that LB898 dealing with Open Meeting Laws was duly posted. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present. 

 

Motion by Teadtke and Seconded Adema by to approve the agenda. RCV: Adema-aye, Paulsen-aye, Teadtke-aye, Moody-aye. Bolling-absent, Flyinghawk-absent. Motion approved.

 

Motion by Paulsen and seconded by Adema to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held on August 14, 2023. RCV: Paulsen-aye, Teadtke-aye, Moody-aye, Adema-aye. Bolling-absent, Flyinghawk-absent Motion carried. 

 

Motion by Teadtke and seconded by Adema to approve the bills as presented: RCV: Teadtke-aye, Moody-aye, Adema-aye, Paulsen-aye. Bolling-absent, Flyinghawk-absent. Motion carried.

 

The financial report was presented.  Motion by Adema and seconded by Teadtke to approve the financial report. RCV: Adema-aye, Paulsen-aye, Teadtke-aye, Moody-aye. Bolling-absent, Flyinghawk-absent. Motion approved.

 

RESOLUTION NO. 2324

 

NOW, THEREFORE, the Governing Body of Niobrara Public Schools resolves that:

 

       

 

1.

The 2023-2024 property tax request be set at:

 

 

         

 

   

General Fund:

 $    1,818,182.00

   

Bond Fund:

 $                   -  

   

Special Building Fund:

 $                   -  

 

Qualified Capital Purpose Undertaking Fund:

 $                   -  

2.

The total assessed value of property differs from last year’s total assessed value by 7.05 percent.

 

         

 

3.

The tax rate which would levy the same amount of property taxes as last year, when multiplied by the new total assessed value of property would be 0.823655 per $100 of assessed value.

 

         

 

4.

Niobrara Public Schools proposes to adopt a property tax request that will cause its tax rate to be 0.823655 per $100 of assessed value.

 

         

 

5.

Based on the proposed property tax request and changes in other revenue, the total operating budget of Niobrara Public Schools will increase (or decrease) last year’s budget by -7.36 percent.

 

         

 

6.

A copy of this resolution be certified and forwarded to the County Clerk on or before October 15, 2023.

 

         

 

Motion by Teadtke, seconded by Adema to adopt Resolution #2324 Roll Call Vote: Paulsen-aye, Teadtke-aye, Moody-aye, Adema-aye. Bolling-absent, Flyinghawk-absent Motion carried.

Motion by Adema and seconded by Teadtke to adopt and approve the 2023-2024 budget for Niobrara Public Schools as published. RCV: Teadtke-aye, Moody-aye, Adema-aye, Paulsen-aye. Bolling-absent, Flyinghawk-absent. Motion carried.

 

Mrs. Sandoz updated the Board on bus barn project,

 

Ginny Callahan gave the teacher’s report.

 

Administrator reports were given.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 6:14 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for October 10, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.
