MINUTES OF REGULAR BOARD MEETING

September 12, 2022

Chairman Moody opened the Budget Hearing at 5:45 p.m. Chairman Moody closed the Budget Hearing at 5:55 p.m. and opened the Tax Request Hearing at 5:55 p.m. and closed the Tax Request Hearing at 6:00 p.m. Chairman Moody called the regular meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. It was noted that LB898 dealing with Open Meeting Laws was duly posted. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present.

 

Motion by Adema and Seconded by Klug to approve the agenda. RCV: Adema-aye, Bolling-aye, Klug-aye, Moody-aye. Paulsen-aye. Teadtke-absent. Motion approved.

 

Motion by Bolling and seconded by Klug to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held on August 8, 2022. RCV: Bolling-aye, Paulsen-aye, Klug-aye, Moody-aye, Adema-aye. Teadtke-absent. Motion carried.

The bills were presented.

 

Motion by Adema and seconded by Bolling to approve the bills as presented: RCV: Teadtke-aye, Paulsen-aye, Klug-aye, Moody-aye, Adema-aye, Bolling-aye. Motion carried.

 

The financial report was presented.  Motion by Bolling and seconded by Teadtke to approve the financial report. RCV: Paulsen-aye, Klug-aye, Moody-aye, Adema-aye, Bolling-aye, Teadtke-aye. Motion carried.

 

Motion by Teadtke and seconded by Bolling approve the annual review of the safety plan with changes as presented. RCV: Paulsen-aye, Klug-aye, Moody-aye, Adema-aye, Bolling-aye, Teadtke-aye. Motion carried.

 

Motion by Bolling and seconded by Teadtke to adopt and approve the 2022-2023 Budget for Niobrara Public Schools as published. RCV: Klug-aye, Moody-aye, Adema-aye, Bolling-aye, Teadtke-aye Paulsen-aye. Motion carried.

 

 

 

 

 

 

RESOLUTION SETTING THE PROPERTY TAX REQUEST

   

 

RESOLUTION NO. 2223

   

 

WHEREAS Nebraska Revised Statute 77-1632 and 77-1633 provides that the Governing Body of Niobrara Public School District passes by a majority vote a resolution or ordinance setting the tax request; and

   

 

WHEREAS a special public hearing was held as required by law to hear and consider comments concerning the property tax request;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Governing Body of Niobrara Public School District resolves that:

 

1. The 2022-2023 property tax request be set at:

     

 

 

         

 

 

 

General Fund:

$ 1,818,182.00

   

 

 

 

Bond Fund:

 

   

 

 

 

Special Building Fund:

 

   

 

 

Qualified Capital Purpose Undertaking Fund:

 

   

 

 

2. The total assessed value of property differs from last year’s total assessed value by 2.48 percent.

 

 

         

 

 

3. The tax rate which would levy the same amount of property taxes as last year, when multiplied by the new total assessed value of property would be 0.906253 per $100 of assessed value.

 

 

         

 

 

4. Niobrara Public School District proposes to adopt a property tax request that will cause its tax rate to be 0.881759 per $100 of assessed value.

 

 

         

 

 

5. Based on the proposed property tax request and changes in other revenue, the total operating budget of Niobrara Public School District will increase (or decrease) last year’s budget by -1.18 percent.

 

 

         

 

 

6. A copy of this resolution be certified and forwarded to the County Clerk on or before October 15, 2022.

 

 

           

 

       Motion by Teadtke, seconded by Klug to adopt Resolution #2223.
